Every day, non-nursing team members play an important role in supporting patients, families, and colleagues. The BEE Award was created to recognize these outstanding individuals, and we are proud to announce that Brittany Haines, Registered Medical Assistant/Patient Care Coordinator at our Kenwood location, is our very first BEE Award recipient at OHC.
Brittany was nominated by Lauren Helton, Nurse Navigator, who wanted to recognize all the hard work Brittany puts in for her patients. Through her dedication, kindness, and commitment to going above and beyond, Brittany exemplifies the values that make OHC a trusted partner in cancer care.

During a special recognition ceremony in the lobby of our Kenwood office on Tuesday, September 1, Brittany was surprised with the award while surrounded by coworkers and teammates who know firsthand the positive impact she has on those around her. Her husband and son were also in attendance to witness her award reception. Amy Sheldrick, Manager of Nursing Services, and Amanda Noble, Executive Director, presented the BEE Award, acknowledging not only Brittany’s exceptional service to our patients, but also the support, encouragement, and teamwork she consistently brings to her colleagues.
Below is Lauren’s nomination for Brittany:
”I am nominating Brittany Haines for the Bee award because I can’t think of anyone who more deserves to be recognized for her hard work. She goes above and beyond for the patients. While managing numerous complex tasks, she still finds the time to do the little things. These little things range from calling a patient she hasn’t heard from in a while just to “check in” or completing FMLA paperwork for patients and family members. We had a patient, in particular, going through an extremely hard time mentally. Brittany called the patient for a referral and ended up talking to her on the phone for an extensive amount of time. The patient had mentioned she was struggling, and Brittany provided comfort and emotional support to the patient. The following day, the patient came into the office for a follow-up (that Brittany orchestrated due to their conversation). Brittany immediately went into the exam room with the patient and consoled her. She advocated for her patient and found another doctor after what felt like hours to refer her to for her pain management. This speaks a lot about the kind of employee she is as well as the kind of person she is. She has been with OHC for 18 (?) + years and continues to soar. She truly is one of the best coworkers I have had the pleasure of working with every day. She deserves to be recognized for her hard work and knows how much of an impact she makes not only on the patients, but her coworkers as well. I was excited to hear about the BEE award and what it means. While reading the description of the award, Brittany immediately came to mind. OHC is so lucky to have her, and again, she is most deserving of this award.”

Stories like these remind us that even small acts of kindness can make an impact on people’s lives. Brittany’s commitment to her patients is what makes her so deserving of this award.
While only one team member is selected as the BEE Award recipient each award cycle, we are grateful for the many nominations submitted. Each nomination reflects the extraordinary kindness our staff members provide every day.
