To say that the month of June was eventful for Amanda Toms is an understatement. OHC extends congratulations to this inspirational woman who was recently honored as The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Ohio River Valley Woman of the Year and recipient of its Mission Integration Award. Amanda spent the last few months fundraising on behalf of LLS and secured $186,378. After receiving the honor, Amanda said, “I’m so happy to be able to bring hope to others through the research these funds will support.” LLS is the largest funder of cutting-edge research to advance cures for blood cancer. It has invested nearly $1.3 billion in research.
Amanda, who recently celebrated a birthday, has been battling multiple myeloma since 2017. She was referred to OHC’s James H. Essell, MD, medical oncologist, hematologist, blood and marrow transplant specialist, and cellular therapy expert for treatment.
