Prior to starting nursing school, Kristina Liming learned a close family member was diagnosed with breast cancer. Kristina accompanied her to many appointments, and was inspired by the interaction between her relative and the providers. Kristina noticed that as the providers were treating her for her cancer, they also seemed to genuinely care about her as a person. Sarah Mancini first experienced cancer when her grandmother passed away from multiple myeloma. As she moved into adult life, several other family members and friends were diagnosed with cancer.
