Dr. Chowdhury chose a career in cancer care because cancer is an enigmatic disease. “It causes suffering in patients and has a profound effect on their loved ones. I believe it is a privilege to be able to care for patients and their families during such a vulnerable time in their lives.” While there have been incredible advances in cancer care, Dr. Chowdhury believes that there is still a great deal of work to do. “I am driven to provide the most up-to-date evidence-based patient care to help alleviate the cancer burden of patients and further advance the field.”
Dr. Chowdhury’s approach to patient care involves fully understanding his patients and their treatment goals. “As oncologists, we must get to know our patients—what gives them joy, what their dreams are, what energized them prior to their cancer diagnosis. Only then, are we qualified to help our patients navigate through the highs and lows of their illness.”
